    The U.K. variant has now been detected in two Washington counties - Snohomish and Pierce. It's almost certainly elsewhere as well.

    To detect more contagious or more virulent mutations of COVID, sequencing the genomes of the virus is necessary. Currently we are sequencing very few viruses, but and BBI are hoping to change that with the help of a new CDC program. Read more:
