Citywide curfew takes effect today: City Manager Dave Sykes has implemented a citywide curfew effective today, via a Local Proclamation of Emergency. The curfew will be in effect from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning Sunday, May 31 for the next 7 days or until further notice.
We lost a young hero last night when 22 year old Officer Natalie Corona of the Davis Police Department was senselessly gunned down last night serving her community. All of law enforcement is in mourning along with her family, friends and colleagues.

Burglars Caught! Monday, Officers Takash & Malvido responded to a burglary in progress the Almaden neighborhood. One suspect was caught at the scene while the other fled into the neighborhood. Special Operations Officers and K9 Officer Tatom & K9 Jax soon located the 2nd suspect.

Yesterday Officers recovered this handgun from a suspect fleeing a hit and run collision on foot near Koch Ln and Cherry Ave. A traffic accident quickly turned dangerous with an armed suspect running away but officers safely took him into custody a got another gun off the street.

San Jose Officers joined up with Shop with a Cop Silicon Valley to deliver 300 meal kits for McKinley Elementary School families as well as books for children at home away from school and libraries.
Yesterday San José Officers, one on his 7th day on the job, responded to assist with a residential fire. They assisted with an unresponsive elderly female and immediately began giving her CPR.
On March 24th, 2015, Officer Johnson responded to a report of a suicidal subject. While on scene, The subject exited the apartment and fired multiple shots. Officer Johnson was fatally wounded.
Officer Johnson was the twelfth San Jose Police Officer killed in the line of duty.
Officers Preuss and Burchfiel volunteered to go door-to-door with Santa Clara County Probation to hand out groceries to needy families in the Santee neighborhood in preparation for the holiday. One of many volunteer activities, our officers, are participating in this season.
San Jose is one of only 88 different police agencies out of an estimated 18,000 nationwide that voluntarily provide their use of force data to this research project and make the data available to the public online.

Each SJPD academy class spends a week learning the history of policing before they hit the street. These recruits begin to patrol SJ tomorrow morning and will start their careers with a better understanding of the professional they have chosen and the communities they will serve.
