"The middle school math and science teachers at Momentum Academy teach their classes in four schools at once." This is an important, and horrifying, article. Worth noting: Missouri has the second-lowest starting teacher salary in the country. nea.org/resource-libra

This is horrifying. It isn't just COVID—it's opioids, suicides, car accidents, loneliness, and a bunch of other things I'm sure I'm missing. Blaming MO's leadership for all of it isn't fair, but when it comes to suicides and healthcare access, that does, in part, fall on them.

I recognize like everyone else that there's not much to be optimistic about in politics these days, but I really do think—with the right candidates, running against some truly bad people—there's still reason to be hopeful.

The fact that cybersecurity is becoming a partisan issue—as it's becoming one of the single most important infrastructure issues we face as a country—is legitimately frightening. (From .)

What happened today in Texas is an unspeakable tragedy. We cannot allow this to keep happening. We have to find a way to make things better. We have to do more to keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals. We need to act.

Thank you to Communication Workers of America Local 6300 () for letting me speak with your members. Unions built the American middle class. Without them, we wouldn't have many of the benefits we take for granted today.

I had a great conversation with members of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association over lunch this afternoon. Thanks to NARFE Chapter 112 for all you're doing to ensure our retired federal employees have the resources and benefits they need!

I'm honored to be the newest candidate on the Renew America Movement's watchlist. Our country needs leadership that will uphold our democratic principles. I've always been a staunch advocate for protecting democracy and the rule of law, and that's what I'll continue to do in D.C.

My heart is with the family and friends of Benjamin Polson and all of the firefighters at STLFD who lost a brother yesterday. Mr. Polson's bravery and service to our community will not be forgotten.

Today, a #Firefighter with the St. Louis Fire Department was killed while bravely battling an aggressive house fire. Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers at sisters at the STLFD and the lost firefighter’s family as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and the 80th anniversary of our entry into WWII. Fewer veterans of the War are still with us—the youngest are now 94 years old. But we cannot and should not forget the sacrifices this generation made for our country.

6 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. That number could reach 14 million by 2050 — 2.5x the population of MO. An Alzheimer’s vaccine could be a blessing for millions of seniors and their families.

My thoughts are with the families of Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz and everyone who lost their lives in the Kabul airport bombing yesterday. Missourians will never forget the sacrifice they made for our country.

This is one of the hardest but most important warnings for us today. Perpetrators were ordinary people. They accepted an ideology that rationalized and promoted hatred & evil. It became their everyday live. This is the scary part of the story.

People want to believe that only monsters commit mass abuses & atrocities. But it’s actually ordinary people, “just doing their jobs” and “just following orders”, who make horrors happen. Photos of Auschwitz personnel, 1944. rarehistoricalphotos.com/laughing-at-au

Maybe the media's not doing a great job if most of the new Democrats are center-left but all the attention is on 3-4 really outspoken members on the leftmost flank of the party?

Hot take: Political incentives have pretty clearly changed in social media age. Ds won House w muscular but generally centrist approach, liberals lost biggest competitive races. Yet caucus has been pulled firmly to left & spotlight is on left.
