Every day in 2020, I'll share a contribution I make to the quality and fairness of politics-related Wikipedia articles. The bulk of that work will be the creation of new articles about past & present political scientists from underrepresented groups

Suffice it to say that several editors are fighting the good fight, I expect the page to get officially protected from vandalism soon, and as usual bigots can unfollow me & find a more effective praxis than spending your monday afternoons attacking volunteer-run encyclopedias :-)

My Wikipedia contribution today was to fight back against the erasure of transgender people from a semi-prominent page where their existence has been suppressed since 2007, with systematic & active text deletion for 6 years. I won't name the page for fear of encouraging vandalism

How is it possible that Erin Gloria Ryan () didn't have a page? Ridiculous! I just started one. New page here:

Worth saying: I hope the Wikipedia bios I write can be used by their subjects, especially junior academics, whenever they need to demonstrate evidence of their impact on the field. If nothing else, it's solid proof that you affected me enough to spend time writing your article!

Probably a good idea for my fellow Canadians to not rag on the US Senate too much so long as our senators are given lifetime appointments to veto legislation by the Queen of England

I got to tell that I wrote his page when came to Ann Arbor a few years ago. At the time, someone had (creatively) added a "Personal Life" section that just said "Lovett is gay." Lovett thought that was pretty funny

Just tidied up & improved the first page I ever started: Jon Lovett's (), back in 2016. It's now been viewed ~2.6 million times. This page woke me up to the (fair or unfair) power & importance of Wikipedia biographies

Just added another interesting detail: as a health professional, Qapik Attagutsiak helped found a medical centre & has coauthored or been acknowledged in several academic studies. This is on top of being a professional seamstress, and having 16 children and >200 descendants!

Qapik Attagutsiak's story is truly amazing, so I've just written a page for her on . She & her community collected hundreds of pounds of animal bones each day for the Allied munitions effort in WWII. New page here:

I'm rushing to finish something for 9 am tomorrow, so today's contribution is one from a while back: I translated lots of the content on Aude Bono-Vandorme's page from her French article. One of the few fluid mechanics PhDs in a national legislature!

Writing about comparativists on Wikipedia is always a fun reminder of the way and overhauled the Comparative Politics page during a editathon. First, they deleted 4,000 bits about how everything is footnotes to JS Mill
