Plastic isn't worth recycling. The new recycling bins in our cities look beautiful, but they do much less than what by now two generations were lead to believe. https://www.npr.org/2020/09/11/897692090/how-big-oil-misled-the-public-into-believing-plastic-would-be-recycled …

In a way Big Environmentalism led everyone into thinking that recycling was a moral imperative. An unfortunate cycle got locked in.https://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/04/opinion/sunday/the-reign-of-recycling.html …

Adding "reduce, reuse, recycle" to the list of 90s/2000s-era childhood psyops, right under "the food pyramid"

so technically yes but when China was buying they were definitely recycling plastics it's just cost ineffective so only China could do it ALSO there is limited bandwidth so the more valuable materials like recyclable metals were making the voyage more than plastics https://twitter.com/perdricof/status/1304571184432979969 …

I am sad that the angle used to sell the article is about being duped by evil corporations rather than accepting responsibility for caring more for being seen to do good than actually doing good.
