The evidence that our economy has been radically mismanaged is abundant. But this might also be the most radical idea of our time. Neither the left or the right are comfortable with it.

The right claims growth is here if you measure it right, the left claims growth is bad and we can simply demount this tiger we are riding. It is radically over-leveraged in terms of natural resources and social capital.

It is hard to imagine the likes of Rand and Marx when worldviews focused on unleashing the forces of production. They at least aimed or claimed to aim at positive sum games.

We live in the age of unsustainable 'chugging along'. Its modest gains don't even pretend to be enough to deal with problems of exhausting resources and social unraveling.

Silicon Valley rife with problems, it hasn't figured out the best social structures for production and innovation. But arguing that it should be managed like the rest of the economy can only be proposed by someone that hasn't been paying attention to the rest of the economy!!
