Now the question is what would have happen if the angry leadership of PDPA knew that Daoud wasn't behind the killing? how the course of history would have turned? Would Daoud arrest PDPA leadership? Would 1978 coup happened? What about the Soviet Invasion and the Jihad campaign?

All other evidence but say that Hekmatyar ONLY bluffed in order to show himself very important Khaibar was murdered by Soviets in cooperation with Karmal & a couple of his very loyal supporters.

1: Khaibar was against any action against Daoud Khan as he considered him a great patriot 2: Khaibar was respected by Khaliqis/Parchamis alike & his murder could make angry officers of both wing to stand against Daoud Khan

from what I heard, there were evidence that Mir Akbar was assassinated on President Daud’s orders and other members of PDPA were imprisoned as well as there were orders to imprison PDPA members in Armed forces . Hekmatyar was hiding and not in a position to carry out that.
