    Many Chinese have participated in programs. But after Ekpar Asat did, the Chinese gov jailed him for 15 yrs. The US shld push forcefully for his release & work w/ allies on behalf of over 1 million Uighurs imprisoned under Pres Xi.

    Down to the wire negotiations prompt to announce contingencies to mitigate chaos and harms on January 1:

    Negotiations are still ongoing but the end of the transition is near. There is no guarantee that if & when an agreement is found it can enter into force on time. We have to be prepared including for not having a deal in place on 1 January. Today we present contingency measures ⤵️
