Have been using the Zeitz for several years - very reliable and really easy when it comes to change the filamenthttps://www.zeitz-puller.com

Never had experience with this machine. Sakmann had one of these in his lab next door in Florida, but I never tried it.

We use a narishige pc 10 because it’s relatively cheap, relatively foolproof, and—if you buy thousands of pieces of glass from the same lot—bulletproof.
-
Still buying raw glass from hilgenberg in the kg amounts.Usually lasts us got about 1-2 years....

Narishige if you just want to patch somas, but if you've got anything exotic in mind a sutter might be the way to go (you can pull dendritic pipettes on a narishige, but there are limits)
-
Nothing too exotic.. Heka does the job for patching calyx terminals, too...

It’s a trade off. Sutter creates as many problems as it solves. Easy to replace filament and good for varied pipette needs. But too many variables=disaster for impatient electrophysiologists. I loved my old List Medical vertical puller, sadly discontinued.
-
I sometimes feel like I have a 2nd PhD in programming a Sutter. Especially having added the P-2000 to my P-87/97 experience...

I'll be honest - in the 22 years that I've been patching, I've only ever used a Sutter (P-97 then P-84 then P-97 ) and out of habit I wouldn't ever change. Filament replacement is 2 hrs for patch electrodes.

Very happy with Narishige: cheap, constant, easy. Sutter is good, but needs lots of attention.
