So there was also a technological mishap. The pop up was built to appear every time a driver went "offline." However, drivers switch between Uber, Lyft and other apps. That means they go offline all the time. That is why drivers were constantly having to click yes or okay.

what the hell
Typical Uber. Just say no.
Seems illegal, but who is going to stop them? Lol
this is so fucked up
Same with @lyft. They don’t have a business model that can compete in a fair marketplace so they have to cheat.
The business model can compete, but it doesn't throw off enough cash to satisfy investors' expectations. This is all a symptom of fundraising, moreso than actual unit economics; paying drivers enough boils down to raising prices and therefore serving a smaller market.
I bet the drivers can’t pick up rides on Election Day until they upload a picture of their ballot with a “yes” on prop 22.
