Pat's release seems to be the first of its kind during Covid – an immediate grant of freedom by Newsom for someone w/ a life sentence. There are other women like Pat who have spent decades behind bars who are currently in chemotherapy who are at extremely high risk of death, locked up in prisons where Covid continues to spread.
