    We must abolish the . As more states move toward moratoriums, this administration has resumed federal execution as another display of its penchant for barbarism.

    Mr. Lee was strapped to the gurney for four hours in the middle of the night while the federal gov’t sought to vacate a stay. The gov’t then executed him without notifying his attorneys even as multiple court filings were still pending.

    And Mr. Lee spent FOUR HOURS strapped to a gurney waiting to learn if he was to live or die.

    This execution was opposed by the mother/grandmother of the victims — the very people on whose behalf that the government claims to act in death penalty cases ...

    Mr. Lee was strapped to the gurney for four hours in the middle of the night while the federal gov’t sought to vacate a stay. The gov’t then executed him without notifying his attorneys even as multiple court filings were still pending.

    Ruth Friedman, Daniel Lee's attorney, says her client was strapped to a gurney for four hours while the Justice Department sought (and obtained) permission from the Supreme Court to execute him, then killed Lee without notifying her first.

    And now the gov’t apparently plans to proceed with ’s execution immediately. An execution that victims’ family members are vehemently opposed to. We are a deeply troubled nation.

    In the middle of the night, the Supreme Court “sets a dangerous precedent.” It truncates the judicial review process to allow the first federal executions in 17 yrs “before any court can properly consider whether the[] executions are unconstitutionally cruel and unusual.”

    In the middle of the night, the Supreme Court “sets a dangerous precedent.” It truncates the judicial review process to allow the first federal executions in 17 yrs “before any court can properly consider whether the[] executions are unconstitutionally cruel and unusual.”

    The five conservatives on the US Supreme Court, in an unsigned opinion issued at 2 in the morning, allow DOJ to short-circuit federal appellate process to allow it to execute people in the middle of a global pandemic.

    Try to imagine what it must be like to be Daniel Lee right now. Waiting every minute to find out if the government will be permitted to end his life before midnight.

    The Bureau of Prisons has allowed media witnesses to leave the facility while the U.S. Supreme Court decides if federal executions will resume today. If the execution is not carried out by 11:59pm ET, then the government will have to reschedule for a different date.

    No words. DOJ is literally litigating against the victims’ family so they can restart federal executions after 17 yrs this week. The family, including a victim’s 81 yr old mother, wants to attend the execution, but does not want to risk contracting COVID. DOJ does not care.

    We are urging to adjust the funding formula for this program so that Black-owned small businesses are not adversely impacted. Black businesses are crucial to wealth building and have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

    Tennessee's funding formula for its Business Relief Program will adversely affect small, Black-owned businesses. Today, LDF sent a letter to urging him to change the gross-sales based model and to help mitigate further economic hardship.

    You realize this is literally how the government executes people in this country, right?

    There is no authority in the Constitution that authorizes the government to stick a needle in you against your will, force you to wear a face mask, or track your daily movements. 🇺🇸 Can you imagine the signers of the Declaration of Independence submitting to any of these things?!

    Completely disappointing. No one should have to risk their life to vote & yet here we are. I am sorry to Alabamians voting in this month's election. But, we will channel our heartbreak & work to protect the remaining 2020 elections in AL. It's not over yet. We fight on.

    US Supreme Court temporarily blocks win in trial court. The stay allows Alabama to impose onerous and dangerous restrictions on absentee and in-person voting in Alabama for the July elections amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
