Throughout COVID, app-based workers risked exposure to keep us safe & fed. By illegally misclassifying workers, companies deprive them of basic protections: minimum wage, sick leave & overtime. To protect workers & enforce state law, we filed a civil action against Doordash.https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1415758092319567877 …

So it only matters that they risked their lives during Covid, this is the basis of your lawsuit? Is Doordash breaking the law or not? Is this a violation of your job duties?

No. DA Boudin promised he would prosecute white collar crimes too, so it's not a violation of his job duties.

That is not what he is saying, he is saying that they should be treated differently because they worked during Covid. The classification of "gig" workers has been classified by the electorate and the legislature will need to codify.

This is what he's saying: "By illegally misclassifying workers, companies deprive them of basic protections: minimum wage, sick leave & overtime." This would be the case with or without COVID.

That might be what he meant - maybe - but is not what he said. He had to make a politcal issue of it when he is supposed to uphold the law.

But he also said that the reason he is doing it is because they risk their lives during Covid. He’s trying to classify them as a different class. He is supposed to uphold the law. Not make political commentary.

Why can't the DA uphold the law & make political commentary? I've heard recall people say he shouldn't be working on bills for the legislature too. This is narrow minded. The old approach to "law & order" was racist & did 0 to address root causes. It's past time to change!

well, he isn't upholdiong the law and the person in his position is supposed to represent all people, not just his party. That is the ethical position. Nice claim of racism, especially since violence and murders against black people and Asians has increased. Who is racist?
