@SamHarrisOrg really enjoyed your discussion with Dr. Ehrman! For the historicity of Jesus, I would recommend researching the work of Dr. Richard Carrier, the leading mythicist who has a convincing argument that Jesus probably didn’t exist. Christianity makes more sense this way.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Thought it was a fantastic conversation. Bart knows the Bible really well. Like really really well. It was a really good conversation, would LOVE to hear a similar conversation but on the Qur’an.

his evidence for Jesus as a historical person were way unconvincing.
-
It struck me as extremely weak. I was quite shocked.
-
Do either of you have an actual retort to what Bart and the other 99% of historians think?
-
if that's all he's got I'm not convinced. Paul knew his brother? That's got to be a fucking joke, right? That's a mighty big leap to use that as proof.
-
You're not out of line in thinking this. Check out Richard Carrier's work, namely "On the Historicity of Jesus," or even his lecture on YouTube "Did Jesus Even Exist?" Then watch his debates on this subject with bible scholars and you'll see how weak the evidence for Jesus is.

I like how
@jordanbpeterson described your critiques of religion (who btw just finished reading your entire corpus of work). You operate at the level of a 16-year old high school kid's critique of a literal interpretation of Literal Creationism. You never dig below the surface. -
This was most vividly displayed in your first podcast episode with JP. You guys kept talking past each other because JP is operating at the deeper recesses of evolutionary reality while you were most concerned with truth as black/white objective facts.

"Jordan Peterson is not spewing nonsense, he's just 2deep4u"
-
Will check it out, thanks for the link!
-
I think Dillahunty does a much better job than Harris at asking Peterson the important questions. It makes for a much more enlightenment conversation
