The law students who shouted me down at Lewis & Clark University called me a “known fascist.” In their manifesto against me, they cited the @splcenterhttp://theweek.com/articles/759498/sad-hysteria-southern-poverty-law-center …

I was thinking of writing a letter to a responsible person at the
@splcenter asking them to print a correction or apology for wrongly associating me with male supremacy & fascism. Who might that person be? -
A responsible person at the SPLC? Good luck with that.

I just read it but I couldn't find the part where they called you a racist leader of the alt-right. Where is that part?
-
You can imply something even if you don’t use the exact words. No SPLC didn’t call him “racist”, they just claimed he argues that black people are genetically inferior, which is effectively the samepic.twitter.com/nqALgiz5S2
-
Pretty big stretch from that to "leader of the alt-right"
-
The article essentially says he has been a major influence in sending people to the alt-right because he uses junk science to claim blacks are inferior. I disagree with his handling of the bell curve, but I can criticize him without resorting to this kind of hyperbole
-
I'm not even defending the article. I asked where the thing about him being a leader for the alt-right was. Stick to the topic if you try to answer my question
-
You‘re all about gotchas. “SHOW ME WHERE EXACTLY IT SAYS THOSE SPECIFIC WORDS”. Anyone reading this knows the purpose of this portion of the article is to link Sam to the Alt Right & assert he and his racism are driving people to them in droves. You’re bright, I know you get that
-
So all of a sudden misrepresenting is fine when it's Sam Harris doing it
-
Nice, another gotcha. Add 1 more point to your twitter tally

I disagree with SPLC's characterization of your treatment of Murray's work, but the underlying data–four people surveyed said your work lead them into the alt-right ecosystem–is something you should probably ponder before choosing where to focus your efforts.
-
It’s a valid point. The problem is that we don't know who these 4 people are, they can be completely crazy. It never crossed my mind by reading and listening to Sam that he is advocating racism and the alt right. Did it cross your mind?
-
No, he’s never come across to me as explicitly pushing racism. But I can recall online conversations where I took a stridently anti-Islam stance that in retrospect traces directly back to Sam. My views have softened since then, considering social desirability bias wrt surveys.
-
If I had become fixated on that issue, perhaps seeking supporting evidence to bolster my case in online debates, it’s easy to see how I could have gotten sucked into that alt-right eco-system myself.
-
I don’t really think I’m wired for that level of out-group antipathy, but if I were, Sam Harris could well have been my gateway drug. Maybe that’s not his fault, but if I had his skills, I’d consider the impact of how I choose to deploy them.
