Wanna know why right-wingers and/or “new centrist” (Charles Murray, Andrew Sullivan, Sam Harris and his fanboys e.g. Devon Tracey) are obsessed w/ IQ and race, and push the racist agenda of Bell Curve? Stephen Gould tells you why, and why it is dangerous:pic.twitter.com/CPsaWn0qWf

Stephen Gould also tells you what the original goal of IQ test was, and how opportunists deflected IQ goal to promote white supremacists and oppress minorities. Shame on you Sam Harris for promoting racists like Charles Murray.pic.twitter.com/Gch5im49VG

This is verbatim a Vipassana lesson. Before all the Atheist jump at me. This is a non-secular meditation technique teaching.
-
Vipassana is a secular technique. It was taught by the Buddha, but meant for all. One need not call themselves a buddhist to benefit from it.

I just attended a 10 day retreat. It was repeated daily that this technique is non secular. It’s just a meditation technique. Yes, taught by Buddha, but non secular.
-
What do you think secular means? Did you go to the Goenka retreat or was it another one?
-
My mistake! Sorry, secular. Goenka.
-
No worries, the Goenka retreat was really great. Good luck with your meditation practice!

This was great. What spawned it?

Not sure what prompted the video, but I believe the audio is from podcast #104 - The Lessons of Death.

how to rebrand by Sam
-
Except that this has literally always been his brand. He has done multiple podcasts and related talks on this subject and spoken about it at length in his book.
-
It's one of his brands. Presently his brand to the public is whatever the controversy is.
-
So then it's not a re-brand at all. It only feels that way because that's the only time his non-viewers will seem him talked about. As a regular listener I had forgotten he even did the Murray podcast because outside of that pod he's never talked about it.
-
Depends on your definition of brand. Try not to be pedantic about it; all I'm saying is he's posting a particularly innocuous video in the wake of recent controversy. If you don't think there's a reason for that, you're missing the plot, as Sam would say.
