Ezra: "I hope you're having a great day, we should get together and discuss how you're a bigot." Sam: "Dude seriously shut up with the bigot stuff." E: "You're being so rude, I'm being respectful." Sam: "Not in your article." Everyone: "Sam's lost it!"

Dude, Sam has not just once but twice published email correspondence with folks without telling them from the get go that he planned on doing so. This is not the behavior of an ethical person. He handles criticism like a 5 year old.
-
It's hard for me to get worked up about sharing a type of correspondence where "fwd" is one of the main options.
-
I am not worked up about it, it's just not how a non-child would respond to an article criticizing their work. Sam Harris is a petulant child, not a thought leader.
-
Again, you're saying this based on sharing a conversation built to be forwarded, so it's hard for me to get on board with that. I don't think Sam is behaving perfectly, actually, I just think this move in the story is not really that big of a deal.
-
Well, the cult of Sam Harris is basically Scientology for Atheists so of course any criticism of L Ron, sorry Harris, is out of line and not reasonable.
-
The cult analogy is so ludicrous as to be laughable. I humbly suggest even just a superficial engagement with Sam’s content and community of fans, as no sane person who has done so would maintain that position.
-
I understand that any and all criticisms of Sam Harris and the cult of personality around him are unfounded. Here's a handy instruction guide for any future criticisms.https://www.echoplexmedia.com/new-blog/2016/9/7/your-comprehensive-sam-harris-criticism-check-list …

Noticing that doesn’t invalidate all of the other points Ezra made. Surely you’ve at least recognized that publishing the emails hasn’t led to the outcry of condemnation you expected.
-
I mean, the thread was certainly telling... perhaps not in the way Sam hoped.
-
Correct, but a necessary piece of reading - the original article, was not involved. It's what the entire email exchange was based upon. On its face, the email exchange makes Ezra look more reasonable and sound minded. Read the article they're discussing though and all is revealed
-
I wouldn't say that. I didn't like the article back then, and thought it was somewhat unfair but not egregious, and they ultimately did a follow-up which was pretty decent. Sam's response here came off as really over the top and assumed bad faith at every turn.

But it did. That piece was a good criticism. You seem to dismiss all criticism no matter how valid
-
I wonder if Harris accuses his wife of libeling him every time she disagrees on something
-
No he just releases their personal emails to the world

Sam, you are advocating for and capitalizing from meditation. Yet, the results of those and 10 years of meditation is character assassination, as seen in your recent tweets? Sad!

Just a few examples on how arrogant and disrespectful you are in treating others:pic.twitter.com/D9vRC5Vw3U

Ezra's points are well worth a considered reply. It's upsetting to see someone who is usually so dispassionate respond the way you have. And it wouldn't hurt your case to be more explicit in admonishing racist conclusions when tackling these subjects.
-
Referring specifically to the argument that the long history of oppression and denial of cognitively complex work (among other barbarities) perpetrated on African Americans for centuries could be linked to the "IQ gap."
