Kudos to the audience member who called @cpicciolini out for claiming @StefanMolyneux is a Holocaust denier. And why insinuate that @jordanbpeterson is alt-right? (One of the "exclusively alt-right" people @JamesADamore initially spoke with was Peterson.) Frustrating listen.
Right on. I got the sense that Christian's extremist tendencies have pushed him from one extreme too far to the other. The bit about having "inside information" about James Damore was pretty disgusting.
You commented or supposed that Christina Hoff Sommers is center-right. But I do believe she is center-left:http://www.gameobjective.com/2016/12/06/christina-hoff-sommers-conservative-definitive-interview/ …
This was very hard to listen to. I do not feel visible minorities often get the second chance at redemption he was afforded by the privilege of his skin colour.
Christian and Sam mentioned this. Sam mentioned the example of @MaajidNawaz. Ironically, in this case it’s the hard Left that doesn’t extend this charity.
Totally. @cpicciolini did recognize that fully. I've actually made my kids listen to this. The message of empathy and micro interactions was very powerful.
He sounded like he's traded his anger at minorities for anger at white people. I like what he does but wish it could be done without this aspect. If that's the only way to do it, then I support him.
Nope. Just angry at racist white people.
"We have a lot to feel guilty about." No Christian, YOU do. Even most bonafide white racists have never come close to inflicting the harm you have. That being said, I'm glad you have reformed your life and now help other extremists do the same.
As ever, really enjoyed the discussion BUT was left perplexed by Christian’s comment regarding @JamesADamore
I don’t mean to go after the one contentious issue in the whole evening, but does this not need addressing? (Sorry if ive missed any update on this) thanks
1) Happy to address it. Am talking to James about it and will write more detailed soon. FWIW, James appeared on podcasts that were alt-right including Molyneux (please don't tell me he is NOT a closeted Holocaust denier/"race realist").
2) Many of James' statements also have "alt-right" undertones (white male victimhood, women as biologically lesser than men, multiculturalism is being pushed as an agenda. While I believe he does NOT support the alt-right, I believe he fell victim to their junk science narrative.
3) I genuinely don't believe @JamesADamore is a racist or supporter of the alt-right, but he, like many others, are being duped and fooled by marketing savvy white supremacist gurus and pseudo-intellectuals like Molyneux and Jared Taylor who use junk science and fear mongering.
But white male victimhood and multiculturalism is what the issue was at Google. (I believe) He was being honest and opening it up for discourse? That was the task he was assigned?
I would say he probably made a mistake using these people’s platforms (as they sound disgusting) but i would also imagine he was so politically toxic and no one would touch him so went with ‘any platform is better than none’? Maybe im making convenient excuses but everyone 1/
Needs to see this through with input from yourself and james. So thanks for doing this. And thanks for a great podcast. Your story is amazing. Peace to you and your family x
1/ This was a terrific conversation and Christian is nothing less than a hero. However, I simply can't get behind this notion of white privilege. How is this not a continuation of 'Us vs. Them' mentality?
2/ I've been saying for some time now that what we perceive to be "white privilege" is actually wealth privilege. It's true that white people do control and inherit most of the wealth in this society, which is why I'm in favor of progressive taxation.
3/ But considering that, if we're being told to listen to and empathize with members of various hate groups, as opposed to mocking them or shouting them down, how is accusing every white person in society of having some sort of inherent privilege supposed to be helpful?
