Is there any chance you could interview a woman more than once in a blue moon? Their absence on your podcast is very strange.

He said he was supposed to have a female guest(s) on soon to discuss the
#MeToo
movement. Don't know the status on that -
That's good to hear but couching
#MeToo
as just a woman's issue misses the point. Can woman not talk about history, political philosophy or science as well? -
Absolutely. I hear your point for sure. I think the last woman he had on was
@anneapplebaum & it was a good conversation. Pretty sure this isn't a conscious effort on his part though, just a coincidence -
His politics are, broadly speaking, centre right, and the podcast reflects this. I don't have a problem with this, but he seems to feel it is the antithesis of a safe space. This just isn't true.
-
how are his politics centre right?

Belief in small government and that global free market liberalism is best guarantor of freedom (post 1989 consensus)
-
How many women would be the appropriate amount? Every episode? 2/3? 1/3? 1/2?

I'm sceptical. In 2008-12
@nfergus repeatedly attacked@paulkrugman & made contrary predictions re inflation, etc. In every predictive contest, Krugman was right & Ferguson was wrong. Ferguson's frustration culminated in him repeating a long-debunked homophobic slur on Keynes... -
I'm with you. Niall Ferguson?? Yikes.
-
He's entertaining & charismatic (hell, he's married to Ayaan Hirsi Ali!) but his track record of inaccuracy is pretty damning...

Housekeepings are the best. Sometimes he should just do a full podcast of housekeeping. Could be a nice debate topic with Jordan P. Housekeeping vs CleanYourRoom

Most important aspect of this is your willingness to publicly display an openness to new information and reconsider your opinions. Thanks for walking the walk!

Merch suggestion: Can we get Waking Up shirts that say "just a little bit of housekeeping..."?

See what happens when you step out of an echo chamber?
-
The scott adams podcast didnt count?
-
Good point. Sam's tweet above is basically an admission of obtusity. In the
@ScottAdamsSays interview, Sam ended up just swearing and mind reading. He sounded like a brat who didn't want to admit he rt'd Kasparov too many times. -
I just had a listen to the entire Harris /
@ScottAdamsSays discussion whilst doing some mindless drafting. I don't think I've ever witnessed a non-religious discussion in which one side was so totally unwilling to concede an inch of territory. 1/ -
At one point I started noting down the deranged hyperbole being used. In less than 2 minutes Trump was described as: - Morbidly selfish - Capable of committing treason - a liar who has harmed all of society - a man who has done immense harm to the World 2/
-
- Toxic Harris then stated that he could list 100 more bad things. If this is supposed to be an example of stepping out of an echo chamber in the hope of learning something new then the societal divide which hyperbolic rhetoric of this sort has caused will never be healed. 3/

Yes. And it's vexing that someone whose brand is rationality spouts such emotional nonsense.
