Then you'll need to understand what Hadith (sayings of the Prophet PBUH) are there to support or supplicate it? In what context they were said? What was the situation like. You'll need to study the history and culture of Arabs. Then you can comment on what is extremism.

I have read your twits. Next time please reply to your previous one and number them. That would make it easier for anyone to follow. 1/3

I believe that you are saying that for anyone to criticize Islam or any religion they should become experts and have a real time understanding of its development, which is just impossible. 2/3
-
Also consider that when someone studies a religion as a nonmember they have a less preconceived view of it, which is valuable. I'm not saying that the view of the faithful is less important. I think it's important to have both. 3/3

I have been a follower of your work for quite some time and believe you have been more than cogent on this issue. Not sure if it’s lack of understanding or the impulse to be pejorative by some but you are only guilty of the criticism of bad ideas and not cultures or race.

It's pays not to argue with some people, because they will never get "Understanding" so they trick you into doing this https://twitter.com/puppies_loves/status/964438306690871297 …

Agree, and I am a big supporter/fan of yours, but I suggest disavowing regularly and robustly the ugly underbelly of some of your followership, just as a matter of intellectual hygiene. (Similarly, I suggest that other clear thinkers, such as
@jordanbpeterson, do that regularly.) - 1 more reply

If you believe Sam to be racist or xenophobic, you haven’t been listening. He abhors the potential for damage caused by all religions. This clip is just over 2 min. Grasp his point of the problem with moderate religion, his wisdom has helped me.

NO, as you know. You are pointing out the stupidity of the thought system. Sadly, all religious training is just that - training. The human mind isn't born with those thoughts. It's empty at birth. Religion must fully disappear from the planet if we are to advance as a species.pic.twitter.com/hkEVsZrOmp

Any religion shouldn’t be taken siriously, because faith is only a prove of nothing.

And if this sounds like a lot of work, then i don't believe you have the right to comment on what it's verses mean and what they represent. You have millions of people listening to you, you have worked hard to be in that position , but great power comes great responsibility.

Anyone and everyone has the right to comment.

And i totally understand your point, you are calling Islam and Quran for what you think it is, unlike most of us, you are not influenced by your confirmation biases, you speak with logic. But to criticize something, i believe it is your responsibility to study it in detail.
-
1/ Have you actually read the Quran yourself? It contains plenty of ignorant criticism of unbelievers, and condemns them to suffering in an afterlife, and incites violence against them in this.
-
2/ If you think that too is to misunderstand the Quran, then you'd best explain it to the many Muslims that think along the same lines as the words contained in the Quran.
-
3/ If you want to appeal to 'nuance', 'scholarship' to explain why it doesn't mean what it literally says, then perhaps handing out freely to Muslims is a risk that ought not to be taken.
-
4/ Even being excessively generous with the texts and assuming Islamic extremists get it wrong, that's not a great advert for the religion or its book that actual Muslims can get it so wrong.
-
5/ It the Quran and Hadith can be so easily used to convince British born men of Pakistani origins that they should join ISIS, then there is a serious problem with the texts.
-
6/ If so many parents of the new ISIS members say their previously 'wayward' son became more religious, dressed more conservatively, became more interested in Islam, then joined ISIS, I think you need to look closer at Islam.
-
7/ It's not like this isn't obvious to Muslims. Point out a preacher that incites hate and violence? Oh, he's one of *those* Muslims (Wahhabi, Salifi, Sunni, Shia, .. whatever the commenting Muslim is not).
