One is left to wonder how some people can be so self-absorbed that they would walk by an ailing man and decline to help him, instead saving their supply of oxygen to check something on a bucket list. Isn't, "Declined to summit, saved another's life instead" a better epitaph?

Why should anyone risk their lives "rescuing" dead bodies?

Why not leave them frozen up there, until medicine advances enough to revive them.

Sam, I've got a good idea for a live podcast format, I tried to contact you via your website but it doesn't seem to have the option. You could do screenings of documentaries, then discuss them with the director/creator after, similar to your conversation with

A well-written article, and a noble effort to help bring some degree of closure to said individuals.

Incredible read. Seeing a lot of comments about insensitivities and not assisting climber's in trouble or near death. I have to think each person attempting such a climb knows the risks (must be a waiver?) and could be abandoned or die esp if they disregard a sherpa's warning.

People criticizing the people walking by them. Watch a doc on this mtn. Betweeen camp 4 and the summit there is no room for error. You need to take mult. breaths each step just to move. No way they will be able to help another person

If you have the opportunity check out Everest VR. It's as close to being there as anyone needs to get!

If you sit in an icy bathtub for many hours & survive, you're an idiot. If you survive Everest, you've achieved "greatness". I don't get that.
