Just listened. The discussion about the loss of trust in experts was very interesting. As a dentist, I’ve dealt with this problem a lot in my career. Unfortunately, the convo turns to and gets stuck on Trump, and while hilarious criticisms ensue, it was mostly a waste of time

Yes, agree. Once again, Sam can't help himself and again demonstrates his own lack of self-awareness and egocentricity when he seems to seriously believe that Twitter should cancel Trump's account because he could start a nuclear war with a Tweet...such catastrophizing!
-
I do wish that Sam could get past this cognitive distortion. He is his own person and entitled to present his perspective, but it causes me to feel less desire to hear his other thoughts.
-
Yeah, agree. I admire Sam and fully accept that he is entitled to his own views, opinions, and cognitive distortions. Nonetheless, his own susceptibility to the Dunning-Kruger Effect in the singular case of Trump speaks to an intellectual weakness he is unable to admit.
-
...it seems Sam has almost zero appreciation for the idea that human behavior is complex and multiply determined when you hear his childishly simplistic reasons for why 50% of voters pulled the lever for Trump. He's unaware of how much he uses himself as a model for others.
-
I really wish he’d spend some time reading and listening to his past guest Scott Adams. Sam thinks he’s a Trump supporter (he’s not) but he is smart and knows how human irrationality really works...he’s actually a super-liberal Californian (don’t tell the Trumpians)
-
Yes, when you hear Sam's recollections of that conversation with Adams, it's clear that he has a real block in either listening or processing a broader view...he simply pegged Scott as an amoral opportunist...so unfair! Like I said, I see lots of projection there from Sam...pic.twitter.com/P7sMbTWbCo

I would respect your opinion more on Trump if you were honest about him. Unconditional condemnation of him is just as illogical and fallacious as unconditional support. U refuse to acknowledge the positive policy moves and focus solely on character flaws negative policy.
-
What positive policy moves? Please let me know, I’m eager to be enlightened. As far as I can tell, it’s all been giving $$ to billionaires and treason, but please do tell
-
And just so you know, the government doesn't give dollars to billionaires. It's the other way around. The government is largely supported by the dollars from billionaires. Taking less of their money is not giving them anything.
-
HahahahAhahahahaha (breath) hahahahahahaha m’kay, keep drinking the kool-aid and keep supporting their push to exploit the labor/ infrastructure they profit so handsomely from, while not paying taxes.

How can you say that Trump, a multi-billionaire who became the most powerful man in earth at his first attempt without practice, is a monster of incompetence? Do you even listen to yourself ?
-
When you borrow and inherit millions, underperform the market, go broke multiple times, make your money mostly by licensing your name to stuff that isn't yours, and can't turn a profit on a casino - it's easy to say "monster of incompetence."
-
Really? Trump became a billionaire in the 80s yet his father died in 1999. His business success ratio is 4/500 = 99%. His first book was a NYT bestseller. His first tv show was a wild success. He’s most voted GOP candidate ever & at age 70 proceeded to become POTUS @ 1st attempt
-
You're his target demographic, that's for sure.
-
What did I say in my previous tweet that’s inaccurate?
-
Also since I have your attention there’s a big fallacy in your reasoning on experts. Scientists and policy makers don’t have
#SkinInTheGame like pilots. Which is exactly why PILOTS have an incredibly higher success rate than scientists and policy maker.@nntaleb

@ScottAdamsSays Great podcast and guest Sam but, as usual, things go sadly off the rails when talking about Trump (and Scott Adams)...delightfully ironic though, in the context of the topic!pic.twitter.com/TCNvEVTtwl
