Wow, never thought I would see you retweet an article like this. Let's just hope your fan base (white whinny males who think the world owns them a spot of privilege) are actually lured into reading it. A rare kudos to you Sam.

If we cannot see a slow-moving, mission-creep ideology at play here, we are in trouble. The idea that males oppress women is old (1st wave) and uncorrected. It is implicit in this article and many others during this hunt.
-
what the fresh hell? Are you sitting saying men don’t oppress women?
-
You don't oppress your biological in-group. Male genes don't oppress female genes. It's a crazy idea. Men and women had gender roles for survival. Those roles have limits, but nature is the oppressor - not fathers, some, brothers.
-
It was all handled by Daphne Patai in her book Heterophobia. I highly recommend. Done in 2000, described the feminist motives behind harassment law. The title says it all.

This moment is about nothing other than feminists pushing their quasi-religious ideology of male oppression further and further into power. Until this is seen, rationalizations such as this will constantly regenerate on new issues.
-
Thank you Mark, that's exactly what I felt but couldn't articulate as you have done so brilliantly.

This is non sequitur. It doesn't engage with the text at all.

Is this really who you are now, Sam? Black Lives Matter is bad for black people and the MeToo moment is actually about workplaces? "The thing that unites these varied revelations isn’t necessarily sexual harm, but professional harm". As if unemployed women don't get harassed...

What's at stake: Western legal norms as well as general principles of reason, fairness, proportionality, and tolerance. The oppression narratives feeds the regressive left and covertly feeds the Trumpist right as well (in opposition).
-
“Feeds the Trumpist right”? There’s just no evidence of that. Race was the primary predictor of whether you voted for Trump.
-
I am not saying it wasn't race or economics and the rest as well. But no doubt feminist overreach against men - usually "white men" - is seen as a threat to Trump voters. Put another way, feminism is now both race + gender. So they go together most times in the culture wars.
-
There’s literally no evidence that “feminism” made anyone vote for Trump.
-
I am not saying there is some anti-feminist one-to-one vote button (Not yet). But the left + neo-marxist + multicultural + pomo-feminist stuff is a total package. It's called "intersectionality". Wake to the problems of "intersectionality" - it is feeding Trumpist backlash.
-
Again, there’s no evidence that it is. You can keep repeating it, but you’re boring and I’m muting you now.
