Honest question on this, are we only considering a false allegation one that was prosecuted as such? If the majority of accused rapists deny the crime and are not convicted, how are we determining that only 2 percent are false allegations? I’m honestly confused, not trolling.
There seems to be an assumption in these statistics that often rapists who deny the crime and are not convicted are in fact guilty, but the opposite assumption is not made (that those who deny the crime and are not convicted were in fact falsely accused), does that make sense?
This is by far the dumbest shit I've read about #metoo
This is a damn good article. Finally a balanced voice amongst the noise. #LouisCK was wronged!!
Nah he wasn't. Don't jack off in front of unwilling participants. Not a hard rule to live by
The women had given consent so they were not unwilling. Unwilling participants would mean they did not give consent and he did it anyway. He asked, they consented, they were willing participants.
They hadn't given consent. Women involved in this say they never said yes to Louis before he undressed and started jacking off
If you think that you are clearly and obviously misinformed and this conversation is over. I suggest you look up the facts. Good day to you sir.
Louis doesn't deny blocking the door. Does blocking the door to prevent the women from leaving sound consensual to you?pic.twitter.com/Af8m22VaSF
Sigh. The women had ok'd his request to masturbate in front of them. This is a fact. The one woman who had not consented, he did not do so. This also is a fact. First let these two facts sink in for a minute, will you?
And lastly, read the article posted. Things are not as black and white as you would like them to be. There are lot and lots of shades of grey and the article lays them out.
Harassment doesn't equal assault. What's frustrating is that all it will take is one high profile false accusation for us to go back to not being taken seriously again about actual assault. "Trust but verify" is the right protocol for sexual harassment and assault.
I hope this will be the subject of one of your next podcasts?
"The lesson to men is clear: Never hug women at work...this is insane. The project of eradicating physical affection from the workplace is cruel to men & women if it is successful we will all go nuts." I know plenty of women who wont go nuts if men stopped hugging them at work.
I’ve never hugged anyone at work. I’ve never desired to hug anyone at work. I’ve never desired anyone hug me at work. I will not go nuts if physical affection is eradicated from work. That’s really not what I go to work for.
and that's cool, Chris. But some might see it as a bit extreme. We are primates and some of us, at least, dont want to be constrained from showing emotion and affection. I love my fellow humans. Have a great day buddy!
Constraints on showing emotion & affection are one of the main things that give rise to our primates’ advanced social structure versus say, bonobos who practice rampant incest & greet each other with their reproductive organs. Yay for constraints on showing emotion and affection
haha, good joke!
