It was great to see all of you in Vancouver. I would have liked to have some curated audience questions instead of the free for all. Audience ego fullfilment in the way. Especially since I was the next one in line when the time limit was reached.

What was your question?
-
What does Sam and Richard think we should do about the growing culture of fear. Based around identities - pronouns, sexual fear (Douglas Murray), and growing blasphemy laws (which Jordan Peterson helped stop in Canada).
-
Treating people with a modicum of respect in no way amounts to a "culture of fear". We need a rational discussion on how to balance respect for persons with feeedom of speech, yes, but you seem more concerned about men being under pressure not to be dicks.
-
Respect is earned, not demanded. Being civilized towards other people is exactly what I do. Confusing the criticism of people's ideas with being a "dick" misses the point entirely. We are in a time when being offended is equal to a crime. You as a lawyer should see the problem.

Anytime a river makes a new course it’s wild and out of control until the waters recede which will happen here.
-
So let's define the river and set its course. We are in control of this, it's not an outside force like nature.
-
If we are willing to steelman "postmodernism", I think this would be very useful.

@Matt_Dillahunty Have you had a change to argue with Sam about your conception of free will yet? -

For those of us who witnessed the rise of the new atheists, saw all the talks they gave, it’s all a bit repetitive. They have to be careful not to become a caricature of themselves, communicating in sound bites just to please their fan base.

One sentence. *Hysterical laughter* Next sentence. *Hysterical laughter* Audience is good for debates, not chats.

When scientists smack sticks and stones together they get an iphone, which is why you should listen to them and not pastors.
