This is going to be a frustrating listen, I can tell already.
-
It's one of the worst interviews Sam has ever had

I used a future tense. Sam's smug hand-waving dismissals about the left, BLM, and trans issues are things I find problematic. 1/2
-
Pressed for his actual opinion on those issues, he's on the correct side, but when in convo w/ ppl, he bemoans their tactics/goals.
-
Yes, I'm making an assumption here, but I will be utterly surprised if this interview isn't a retread of those things.

I'm sure this thread will be filled with level-headed responses. *Checks below*. Nevermind.

Mark Lilla: Here we're going to have an interesting disagreement. Sam: Cool. Mark: so this will be fun. That's why I listen to your show!
-
Only if America had more civilized discourse like this. While I don't always agree with Sam, I respect his search for the truth

This podcast was on target, particularly regarding paradox of proclaiming no one understands your experiences while simultaneously demanding that they do and marginalizing any non-minority group for existing. Common ground/shared values must be the answer.
-
Resonated like I couldn’t have expected. L bullies make me feel alienated from my party.

I don't think it's possible in practice to lay down new useful terms as you advocate toward the end. We just need to be more verbose imo.
-
These new terms may be embraced at first but any resonance they attain will be used against them and against rivals through equivocation.
-
I don't think prescriptive semantics can work as a long-term strategy in the age of social media. We need to take the time to be more clear.
