Having Linda Sarsour leading the womens march is a sign of confusion , yes. But why is this one?
Because it's associating an instrument of female oppression with resistance to oppres
Fair point. But in this context though isnt it just a symbol against divisive politics?
i see some value in that social rep. U can be a feminist hero and wear a hijab. Look at Malala.
Sure and thats sick. But she is living in UK now and still wears it. No doctrinal-state pressure.
4...I'm also mystified at how quick western liberals are to defend blatant tool of oppression.
Many women wear a hijab; this image can be a convey unity and western values among Muslims.
Western values? It's the diametric opposite of western values. Talk sense.
I'm not too concerned about that image. Expressing unity & secular values among hijabi women is a means of reform.

Good elucidation yet still struggling with if one can be truly free of Islamism while wearing hijab.
In this context its a symbol of pluralism and a statement against division between people.
just now watching you educate Cenk Uygur. So satisfying after all the lying he did on his show lol.
.@SamHarrisOrg @shrryph @BertrandPrime Seems like a powerful symbol that could inspire some good things to me. @IHWCo
.@scottishbking Oh fuck off, I'm a pragmatist who is interested in getting more women out of hijabs.http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2017/01/25/a_q_a_with_the_muslim_woman_whose_face_has_become_a_symbol_of_trump_resistance.html …
