Would love to hear @EconTalker's take on this conversation. @SamHarrisOrg @willmacaskill
As it happens, I was on @EconTalker recently: http://www.econtalk.org/archives/2015/09/william_macaski.html …
Oh my I must have heard it & Ferriss too! Now putting pieces together. You're one person! Will re-listen. Thanks!
This inspired me greatly. What would each of you consider some of the most worthy and needy charities?
At the end of the podcast Sam says he is donating to the #1 charity here:http://www.givewell.org/charities/top-charities …
I had heard that part, but I didn't realize there was so much info on the givewell site. Thx!
Is the consequentialist not paralyzed by the inability to foresee all of the future effects of a given action?
Trying to get this. So we make decisions based on the effects we believe they will have in the short term?
Can already see Sam getting greenwalded with "he wants to kill grandmas and throw them in the trash bin"
In all seriousness, one of the best episodes to date. Anxiously awaiting a second interview with @willmacaskill
Fantastic conversation. I have been thinking about it all day.
Altruism is wanting to do something without having any personal interest in wanting to do something.
there's never no personal interest when you do something.
I agree!
I loved it so much I've played 3x!
