If you truly believe both that (1) "Islam" is objectively ascertainable & doctrinally fixed, & (2) it is a violent, socially destructive, retrograde belief system, then you cannot consistently "challenge & criticize" the religion while "protecting & defending" its adherents.

Why can't you debate pages in the Koran while protecting and defending muslims who support debating pages in the Koran?
-
That's like saying you should condemn the Endlösung while protecting & defending Nazis who support debating the Jewish question. If you truly believe that Islam is irredeemable & wicked, then "protecting & defending" its adherents makes no sense whatsoever.
-
(Just FYI, I don't think "Islam" is objectively ascertainable & doctrinally fixed, so I think supporting moderate forces within the religion is a good idea. But if the religion really only had one correct and EVIL manifestation, then no, I would not support any Muslims.)

Your tweets fail to to differentiate your opinion from that expressed by the opening post. If that’s what you were trying to convey anyway.

I think Joseph Campbell said it best about religion. All religions tell the same basic story and have the same message. It's when the followers get hung up on the metaphors that causes problems. Let go of the metaphors and embrace the message.
-
Islam is an ideology. Not a religion. Religions don't have separate courts, banking and laws.
-
True. Islam is a political ideology disguised as a religion.

What part of your podcast saying Europe was committing suicide by allowing in Muslim immigration was criticism of Europe? As opposed to baseless fear mongering.
-
Yes, it was completely ‘baseless fear mongering’ http://amp.dailycaller.com/2018/10/16/german-police-confirm-cologne-hostage-taker-is-syrian-refugee …

Sam you should purchase the recent ‘Study Quran’ book that includes multiple essays regarding the basis, structure and history of Islam. You seem to have no real knowledge of the tradition and that is in unacceptable for a critic.
-
You seem to have no knowledge of Sam's knowledge. Perhaps you should purchase one of his books to educate yourself.

The failure of liberals to criticize the unprogressive aspects in the doctrine has led some resonable people to migrate towards a grotesque narrative formulated by the right. The result is for everyone to see.

Spot on, except I foresee a backlash at the notion that those who aren't jihadists, "don't take their faith and their holy book seriously".
-
I thought the same thing when I read it. Maybe it should have read "literally" instead of "seriously"

Get Ali on the podcast, Sam. He’s great.
-
He’s actually a regressive leftist who just happens to be woke on the topic of religion
-
What "regressive" ideas does he hold?
-
How about this one: evolutionary psychology is pseudoscience.pic.twitter.com/4AvrUwUfeJ
-
So you don't know the meaning of the word regressive, just as I suspected. You're just repeating buzzwords.
-
I think science denial is pretty regressive. The definition of the term Regressive Left has expanded from what Maajid Nawaz laid out, and is now used to denigrate anyone on the left who denies reality.
-
Evolutionary psychology isn't science. It's speculation disguised as results.
