Kavanaugh's defenders appear to believe either (1) Ford is lying to keep him off the court and willing to destroy her life in the process. (What's more, she's been preparing the ground for this accusation for years.) or

I think you’re being dishonest here in offering your preferred 3 choices. It could be any number of other issues. And you know FBI was just to slow the process and he’d never be confirmed. That’s game over. She could be delusional, could have had an awkward hookup, many others.
-
He covered this in his first point. This has upended her entire life, which is why she wanted to stay anonymous. She has had death threats against herself and her children. A good chunk of the country hates her. What's the benefit for lying to get even with him. doesn't add up.
-
Gee, becoming a hero of the left for saving roe v Wade? $500k gofundme? Book deals, tv appearances. But very likely - maybe no benefit at all? Why do false accusations get made in general? There isn’t always a simple motive.
-
I don't think so. You don't risk your family's life for 15 minutes of fame. And there has to be some motive unless she's crazy. Did she seem crazy? No you'd have better luck convincing me she's somehow mistaken than lying...
-
A) she sought to remain anonymous. This could have played out where it was handled in closed door session and never went public. B) I never said she’s crazy. It’s possible she’s mistaken or any other number of explanations. C) why don’t you believe Brett? Also compelling.

The public had a right to know whether this lifetime nominee was guilty of sexual assault and lied about it. Despite this vote going ahead, they still have that right.

Get out of the new York times and Atlantic echo chamber. These are no longer reliable sources.
-
What do NYT and Atlantic have to do with anything? They aren't the ones accusing Kavanaugh of being a rapist. That's his former high school and college classmates.

You can't possibly be this naive. Yes, she can have misremembered someone she knows. And yes, the Dems can be this low in smearing someone for political reasons. I don't like him for 4th Amendment reasons. But, this has been a clown show.
-
What, exactly, do people think an FBI investigation can find in what boils down to a he said/she said situation, where supposed witnesses said they weren't there? Besides, the FBI already said they won't investigate as they've no jurisdiction.

He didn’t decline. He said whatever committe wants to do he would agree to. Gimme a break. For a guy who is regularly on the receiving end of misrepresentations of your own words I’m surprised you would be so sloppy and inaccurate.

I'm dumbfounded by the fact that people are shocked that a guy that has been telling people to be skeptical of non empirically verifiable evidence for DECADES, has an audience that is skeptical of testimony not empirically verified and with no corroborating evidence.
-
That’s why you investigate. (FBI.)
-
What could the FBI find to prove a negative. I'll wait.
-
They can easily subpoena the single witness to the alleged assault (so that both sides can interview under oath).
-
And if the witness denies Kavanaugh being there, what happens? This exonerates him in the mind of the public, how?
-
Then the American people get to decide if Judge is credible. It’s the bare minimum of due diligence.
-
So this isn't a good faith request by your own admission.
