Kavanaugh's defenders appear to believe either (1) Ford is lying to keep him off the court and willing to destroy her life in the process. (What's more, she's been preparing the ground for this accusation for years.) or
-
-
Conversely, assuming he's innocent, how likely is it that Kavanaugh would repeatedly decline to ask for a further FBI investigation (even though this made him look guilty)?

Oh I can’t believe I’m going to get into a twitter debate, especially with someone I really respect and one of 3 podcasters I actually give money to but…As a neuroscientist, you know how unreliable memory is.
-
I'm not a scientist just a curious person and our memory to put it bluntly sucks. It changes. It's been more than 30 years. Why can't both Dr Ford and the Judge be telling the truth as they remember it? I think they were both very credible and I think they were both being honest

Memories, even eyewitness accounts, are not as reliable as people think they are. This is Psychology 101.

Big fan, but I find it very strange I have to tweet this to the guy who literally wrote the book on New Atheism and skepticism.
-
You know who else is an expert on memory, and especially traumatic memory? Dr. Ford. You should read her testimony- she explains it very well.
-
I am aware Dr. Ford has degrees in psychology. She should know, even more than me, what I'm saying is true.
-
So you think you're going to teach a Professor of Psychology about her own field? Is it hubris or simply Dunning-Kruger effect in action? I think her actual degree is a lot more credible than your Google U degree and your quick scan of a Wiki page.
-
I am a physician. Where does Dr. Ford contradict what I have said, or that of Google U? It is known that memories, even traumatic ones, can be faulty and are not as reliable as we think. What have I stated that is incorrect?
-
I've look at the transcripts and Dr. Ford merely describes the neurobiology and neurotransmitters of memories. She did not say traumatic memories are 100% true (which would be ridiculous) or that they are as reliable as most expect.

Here's plenty of evidence that people can be not only wrongly accused, but spend years in jail:https://www.innocenceproject.org/all-cases/#exonerated-by-dna,sex-crimes …

You seem to have ruled out the third possibility of a false memory. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_memory_syndrome …

For 36 years she couldn't remember.
-
That’s not at all what she said in her testimony. She said she didn’t tell anyone for 30 years
-
My bad it was a 30 year reremember. Here is an except from USAToday "the issue came to the forefront during a couples therapy session six years ago. Her therapist’s notes never mention Kavanaugh and actually mention four boys involved, although she says there were only two."
-
4 boys at the party. Therapist wrote it down wrong or misunderstood, and her husband remembers her telling him it was Kavanaugh. She has logical answers to everything you said. From what I’ve seen she never forgot that the assault happened, just never told anyone
-
She had been drinking as a teen at a party thirty six years ago. She can't remember where or when, but is absolutely certain what happened and who did it although none of the other people she named as attending the party did. Hmm.
-
Why would they remember a party in which absolutely nothing happened to them? She didn’t tell anyone at the party and didn’t even speak to them after the assault. Many survivors do not remember exactly where/when, especially those that are very young at the time.
-
And many people remember things incorrectly especially from decades ago and especially when they've been drinking and especially when they were young. Sorry, we can't abandon due process and the presumption of innocence on the basis of an old memory with no corroboration.
-
So Kavanaugh could have simply forgot he assaulted her. It goes both ways. That’s why it should be investigated, especially since Kavanaugh lied about being a saint in high school. No one is trying to lock him up. It’s a job interview, questions have to be answered.
