Again, I've openly stated I don't think she's lying. She believes what she's saying. She has provided no corroborating evidence.

Err, there is no incentive for a registered democrat to deliberately attempt to block the confirmation of a conservative supreme court justice? I'm certainly not insinuating that this is the case, but that theoretical incentive absolutely exists. Poor logic here, Sam
-
She came forward in advance anonymously, explicitly asking republicans to pick another candidate because of his individual character. This would’ve resulted in Republicans picking an equally conservative candidate that got through easily. Doesn’t sound like a dem operative to me.
-
Her anonymity is erroneous in this respect. I didn’t say one of her potential motives was fame. I agree it is unlikely her motives are political, but to suggest as an active political actor she has no potential ulterior motive is simply not true.
-
The key point of my reply wasn’t her anonymity, it was the fact that she wasn’t trying to block a republican Supreme Court justice. She merely didn’t want an (alleged) rapist on the court and was more than willing for republicans to pick someone else.

Sam, why do you insist on thinking Ben has a place in your sphere? Partisanship is the major factor in Ben’s arguments.

Incentives have to factor into your reasoning, Sam. One person has an extraordinary amount to gain by blocking or smearing a conservative nominee. The other only has his and his family’s reputation and career dreams to lose.
-
What does she have to gain exactly? Humiliation and death threats?
-
Her gofundme is currently at 400k.
-
And she somehow knew that was going to happen when she told her therapist about what he did years ago or when she told her rep before he got nominated.
-
You’re missing the point. Sam, a serious philosopher whom I admire, has suddenly lost the ability to be objective. Why? You’ll have to ask him.

Book deals, speaking engagements, tv-movie deals are incentives too....if you want to go down that road.
-
How many sexual abuse victims have made a career out of it? I can't think of any.
-
Harris was the one, asking for incentives being factored in. The economic potential of the amount of media attention, Dr. Ford has at this point in time, is an obvious incentive. Also, Rose McGowan's book did pretty well... And I'm NOT saying McGowan's motive was money.
-
All I'm saying is that it's a undeniable fact that there are money to be made from this.
-
That's why she started the whole 'scam' in 2012 in her private therapy, 6 years before Trump ever considered nominating Kavanaugh.... if one thing is clear, that her incentives are decidedly not rooted in anything that happened after 2012.
-
WTF are you on about? Harris (NOT me!) called for »incentives« to be factored in. I simply pointed out that Kavanaugh isn't the only one with »incentives«. Seriously, chill out.
-
Incentives implies that they actually exist and are not purely speculative. Ford began this anonymously, how are book deals not a non sequitor?
-
Book deals do exist.... and Ford is a lot more likely to be offered one today than she was 6 years ago.
