When are you going to address these lies?

On p 109, Maajid lies about the Islamic doctrine of lying (taqiyya), common to Sunni and Shia Islam.

On p 78, Maajid lies about the permissibility of eating pork in Islam, which Muslims can do in case of necessity (see Quran 2:173, 5:3, 6:119, 16:145 etc)

Time frame for the Android, Mr Harris?
-
Thats Dr Harris for you bucko.
-
Having listened to his opinions on education, both formal and experiential, I prefer to call him Mr Harris. Remember him saying in one of his podcasts that he regards himself more a philosopher than neuroscientist, possibly to the chagrin of PhD's.

Due to your podcast, and similar ideas from
@robertwrighter, I've become very interested in exploring meditation. But, after lots of intellectual research, I'm still not sure: how the hell do I start? :) Possibly a dumb question: but what does it mean to "focus on breath"? -
I recommend using
@Headspace !!! They are honestly fantastic for beginners. They offer free courses for beginning meditations. I pay for the full thing (it's still super cheap) & u get access to so many different guided meditations!

Hey Sam, can you explain something to me? Why does Maajid Nawaz tell all these blatant lies about Islam in the text of your book with him?
-
Where is the breakdown of these lies?

Humans are not suffering from a consciousness problem. We are suffering from the way civilization is design of which filtered down through the generations. I suffer the same mental condition that people suffered in the 20s. We suffer the belief system of money as a religion.pic.twitter.com/RoticMmdXa

This course is worth while! As someone who has been practicing meditation for over a decade, I can say this resource is legit. Sam Harris has done a great job in rendering his experience and exposure to beneficial practice into this potent presentation that will help many.

Your response to why it's ok to treat livestock differently than humans was extremely dissapoiting. Consequentialism I understand, but if there were NO cultural or social consequences to turning humans into hamburgers, it would be ok?
-
Maybe the question wasn't asked clearly enough. The experiment is to apply your justification for killing animals to humans and see if it is consistent. Sam, you provided arguments for killing animals but failed to show how it would be ok in the human context

When was that from? I agree that was a total bullshit answer, but he's touched on this before. The ability to experience plays a part. Stepping on an ant hill can't be analogous to bombing a city because ants can't suffer like we can, exp love or loss like we can.
-
We don't make hamburgers out of ants
-
Actually, we do. And all kinds of other insects. The fact is that beef (a renewable resource) is necessary as a barrier between ethically uneducated mouths and irreplaceable wildlife. End of story. The rest is philosophical circlejerking and causism for its own sake.
-
LOL antburgers though!! That definitely justifies slaughtering cows
-
Your argument is still invalid. You are having a cause purely for the sake of being seen as having a cause. Pick something else. Produced meat protects wildlife from being eaten.
