We as a species are seeking greater and greater control over one another. The very idea that technology gives freedom is becoming our biggest restraint on freedom. How can we act authentically if we are being watched all the time?

The problem isn't on authenticity as what you click or browse online now already exposes who you authentically are in the data processor somewhere. The problem is more on mindlessness. All you do is for social credits, for pleasing to someone, so you don't even need your thought.
-
A major problem is the restraint of authenticity. In
#psychology, we call this the Hawthorne effect (alteration of behaviour by the participants of a study due to their awareness of being observed). How is a person to flourish is every action is monitored? Freedom is restricted. -
True. For adults, their act should slip into the taste of monitor 'initially'; that's restraint part. The same logic applies to either you or me doing in front of a screen just without a clear sign of being observed. As for who is a child now, he/she won't need a thought to grow.

Is that like... a credit score?
-
Like a credit score that decreases if you or your family say bad things about the ruling party, or if you spend time with discredited people.
-
Why would you say something bad about the eternal people’s party
-
I sense sarcasm, but in reality, maybe some corrupt official in the party is extorting you, and when you call attention to it they sue you for defamation. When you assuredly lose, your now terrible social score effectively makes you a pariah with no means to remedy the situation.

You can buy t-shirts and design face paints (potentially invisible for IR cameras) if you want to break existing machine vision algos. But this is terrifying.

*note to self!

They also do things like gait analysis where the way you walk is also used as your digital fingerprint - very very hard to hide that.

Wear odd shoes. One heel.

Or place a small pebble in your shoes. Yeah. But those things can't be done all the time.

You need to see the full story. Much more powerful/revealing than the multimedia piece. https://youtu.be/eViswN602_k pic.twitter.com/WZlEVopBXV
