It's been 17 years, and many lessons remain to be learned from the events of September 11th, 2001. #1: Everyone must be free to offend (your imaginary) God.

Lol. I enjoy Twitter battles as well. Mine wasn't intended to be a starter. I'm very fond of @SamHarrisOrg and enjoy his presentation of ideas, his promotion of meditation helped me start practicing. Theres room for discourse and disagreement still.

Any excessive reaction to "imaginary" strengthens his initial theorem. I love the simplicity of it. I agree though that its dangerous when people tie their entire identity into God. I love God, I'm an emissary but I also love tacos, theres room for a dynamic identity

What about ending the brutal corporate capitalist machine destroying the planet and invading countries for its resources? That's what 9/11 was about and what all wars are about. Religion and morality on all sides are just the cover, the excuse. Greed is the real driver of war.

They aren't mutually exclusive causes. In the case of 911, it's undeniable that religion played at least some role.

Did you ask them all personally? Just how extensively did you interview them for their primary motivations?

And there you go trying to make yourself "right". The poster said that both motivations were at cause.

I don't see @SamHarrisOrg mentioning capitalist greed as the driver of war, or mentioning the right to offend people who go nuts when a football player kneels during the US national anthem. What is that if not religious attachment?

You're right. However, you can't deny the evidence of religious fundamentalism.

Again, they aren’t mutually exclusive issues. Blind patriotism is just as delusional as religious fundamentalism. Sam touches on both problems - but (if I’m correct) he believes Religion is the “only game in town” when it comes to defending dogma with supernatural underpinnings.

On judgement day it is you who will be judged. The only way to get to Heaven is to study and reject ALL religions. Religion is God's plan to weed out the the suckers.

Poorly documented. The religious writings are not consistent. The secular writings are non-existent. What does exist are provable as forgeries. Lots of fan fiction, but not a lot of original material.

But any contemporaneous sources? For example, the most common author on that list, Celsus, was writing some 175 years later... And the four canonical gospels were written 75 to 100 years later by anonymous sources.
