This from the guy who believes in racial IQ.

He doesn't believe in racial IQ, the data shows that there is a disparity in average IQ across the races. Doesn't mean race caused the difference. Correlation does not equal causation. There's always a third variable, we just don't know what it is.
-
Sam Harris always loves a person of color who can somehow announce on his platform how racially inferior they are and how THEY are to blame for their woes. The white man can NEVER do wrong in his opinion because they have the “best intentions” while carpet-bombing cities
-
Many white people have done many wrongs both historically and currently. I'm just saying this is not one of them. Also, it is very bad the you would consider a fellow black person as asserting inferiority just because he is open to rational fact-based discussion.
-
Not surprising you are a Nigerian. You clowns love Sam Harris like your lives depend on it, even though the shallow-thinking fool has been proven to be a despicable racist bigot! I'm a Nigerian atheist by the way.
-
Funny you call someone else shallow thinking but your only reply to facts is name calling. argue with the facts, don't attack people
-
What facts? Harris is the most ahistorical and anti-fact polemicist when it comes to discussions on Islam and the Middle East. Now he is just doing his typical bitching because he cannot stand being called out on his bigotry towards Muslims, Arabs, the Palestinians which he hates
-
Either you've never listened to Sam Harris or your a priori beliefs are blinding you to what he is actually saying. I have listened to him and I don't see all these things you're stating

Add in a strong dose of identity politics from both sides and it’s an even bigger mess and no rational or intellectual discourse to be found. How do we nationally teach critical thinking?
-
Make philosophy mandatory in secondary school
-
I would say middle school. But I think this is the right approach. We don’t teach people a lick of critical thinking or logic & wonder why everyone sucks at it so bad. Now we need teachers for this (oh boy)...
-
Education has been focused on “critical skills” for decades. What’s lacking is substance. Our students are plenty critical, however they lack a broad, moderating base of knowledge. Critical thinking is shallow sophistry without the humility of education.
-
I somewhat disagree. I have a PhD and taught univ for a long time and kids struggle w logic and argumentation b/c they don’t get exposed until college. Knowing fallacies and looking in a science-minded empirical way at things are not the same.
-
Agreed informal and formal logic need constant rehersal.

Grateful for everything you've said about identity politics, Sam. It's obviously counterproductive.
