If there is an upshot to this current toxic climate of social media outrage and shaming, I feel like we will come out the other side more empathetic. Everyone eventually reaches a point where the white flag goes up and the olive branches reach out. -h
-
Right now we are living in the Wild West of social media. There's virtual slayings every minute. I've been through more than enough feuds.
-
I have made it a rule that if I ever engage in a heated exchange w/ someone, I deliberately peruse their timeline to find something - anything - I can hit "like" on. Sometimes it's very hard bc I see timelines filled w/ outrage & contempt. It is hard to love, but we have to. -h

Go one better. Try to honestly engage people you may vehemently disagree with and end your discussion with a thank you. Try to discuss and learn rather than simply win.
-
Amen, a discussion started in spitting, partisan fury happens to me on occasion, and more often than not they end in agreement on at least some things, a thank you and a goodbye. It's pretty much the best thing about this platform. Well that and all the dick jokes.

@paulbloomatyale@nytopinion perhaps it came from the subconscious desire to see Spencer arrive at his desired ethnostate, by being deserted on an island? But there's a typo. Always remember "strawberry shortcake" for dessert. It's the form of SS we can all get behind.

The typo is still there, fam.

I appreciate you pointing it out -- and the clever mnemonic -- but I think I'll just keep it there, for its humbling effect.

No Why? Because words are not "attacks", or "Assaults" or "tortures" They are just words... Yes words can have emotions and troubles attached with them, and even stresses. But words cannot be attacks, or torture. Just one uneducated opinion.
-
Well the article did include doxxing and threats of violence, which go beyond words. To be fair.
-
Yeah, but you can log off. Torture usually involves imprisonment too.
-
Considering the fact that there are leagues of people in varying professions (neuroscience, psychology, game theory and so on) who’s sole job it is to ensure the amount of time any of us spend on an app is maximized, the word ‘prison’ can be analogous.
-
You know what lady? It’s not a rule on twitter to double down if someone disagrees with you? It’s ok to acknowledge it. Being physically imprisoned & beaten is analogous to not being physically touched now? Ok. You take the first option & I’ll take the second. Deal?
-
Having your address exposed to violent people, getting fired, your relatives being targeted, might just be a scary experience. Some guy who genuinely sounds like a douche bag was killed by a Quinnipiac professor today. For being a douche online. Bit much, don't you think?
-
It’s NOT torture! Get a grip!
-
Was it supposed to be literal, the word torture? I'm gripping pretty well.

All good except for the guy that shot the lion for fun. The thousand shocks should be followed by a thousand more. Rinse and repeat.
