BAH! Visited your site and the first thing I see is a promise to give every adult $1000 a month?! Dude...why in the world would someone value something they didn’t earn? Haven’t we learned anything about what happens when you give out things people don’t work for?!

-
We have all earned it. People born to wealth didn’t earn their parents. We are all citizens and owners of the richest most advanced society in the history of the world.
-
You should know better than anyone, 20% of the workers do 80% of the work! We do not “earn” things equally! Some people deserve more some don’t. I do appreciate you responding and not judging! I’ll listen to your convo w/sam and give it a fair listen

I really truly believe if Sam committed himself to economics for awhile, he'd end up being an Austrian economist. We know how he thinks. The logic would take him there. . And it would be great.
-
Behind all the flowery language and logical leaps Sam is really a Marxist, deconstructionist.
-
He seems driven by logic to me. He only knows a few issues really well. If he applied his logic to economics, he'd be a classical libertarian.
-
If you apply logic to econ, you don't get Austrian economics. Because logic would tell you to use evidence and math

Nursing is not a “low end, low prestige, low end service job.” We practice based on nursing science, have our own theories and are experts in the human condition. Nothing low end about it
-
Didn’t mean to ever suggest otherwise. Hold nurses in VERY high regard. Future of medicine.
-
I am in full support of you too. The podcast was wonderful and you are a thoughtful wise person, we need those traits.

A major lacuna in dear Sam's field of vision: Economics. Please, please
@samharrisorg consider inviting@bryan_caplan on your podcast. He's got interesting stuff to say about UBI and more. -
It would be my pleasure.
-
Please talk about open borders.

Well, my

Inspiring podcast! As many dismissive tweets show, big challenge will be getting ppl to understand the paradigm shift, and challenge the dogma of work=meaning=worth. Really tough sell in USA! also here in Switzerland, where we voted down UBI; after hearing you, I'm sorry we did!
-
Your proposal was for $38k per adult. Start a bit lower.

So many flaws to this UBI argument. 1. U have to believe "automation" will eliminate so many jobs. 2. That eliviating suffering from job loss is best for Society, 3. That giving money solves the list of problems discussed, 4. That there will be no, major unintended consequences.
-
Elitist mentality. You can’t accept any genuine atttempt to improve the lives of so many millions and end unnecessary suffering. Just because you’re on the right side of the economic divide

-
I am open to solutions, it just wasn't proven on that show that UBI solved the many problems discussed. Has
@AndrewYangVFA got pilot cities implementing this rolling out? If it was as simple as handing out money then that's great. Btw, I am not elitist. -
UBI doesn’t solve the entire problem- but it’s the first big step in that direction.
-
I commend you for trying. I listened to the whole show. I wish more proof was offered and that each counter argument was more solidly debunked. Example, I liked Ron Paul, but he could never clearly explain his ideas. He made you think we were going to be trading gold coins.
