What a stupid thing to do by equating Vox and Salon to KKK. Shame! https://twitter.com/aiizavva/status/1007622441487695873 …

Right. And, national socialism...was a leftist movement. All forms of socialism and communism are left. They are communal strategies. If the right gets weird, it's on the individualistic side...excesses of unmanged capitalism and general anarchy. Very different.

You're just totally off base, you don't know what you're talking about.
-
Yes, Jason's comment is the dumbest thing I've read on the internet today.

Very good piece indeed. I find the following quote in particular quite eerie: ‘The bank clerk described Hitler as “a spellbinder, a natural orator. I think he was carried away from truth, even from truth, by his passion. Even so, he always believed what he said.”’

One wonders, if Germany’s project to murder millions of its own people hadn’t gone hand in hand with expansionist warfare, would anyone have done anything about it? Would we even have known?

Still waiting for the authoritarian disaster the left keeps forecasting.

It appears Sam has had a relapse in his battle with social media addiction. He was so upbeat and positive earlier this week on the Rubin Report I wonder what happened...

Sam, how do conceptualize authoritarianism/totalitarianism happening in the US in light of our Constitution being designed by the framers to prevent such a thing?
-
We simply don't follow it. Generations of opinions on the Constitution are like a game of telephone. At the end of it (present day) the opposite sentiment can come thru.

This. And I'm still waiting for someone to give a half-coherent justification for the way journalists (and journalism as a whole) are currently being vilified and mocked.
-
I think they're vilified and mocked to the extent that they suck. They've had the carpet pulled out from under them financially, are trying to compete with online and opinion journalism, and face an existential crisis as to what their standards are and role is.
-
If your first part were true there would be some sense of proportionality as to *which* journalists and media outlets suck. What I'm seeing is a kind of Trumpian blanket condemnation of all journalism. It's criticism for the lazy and dishonest.
-
I'm seeing a bit of both. He and his ilk definitely go after CNN the most. But he completely gives the worst offender, Faux News, a pass. Like much of Trump's shtick, there's some important small kernel of truth he exposes, covered in bullshit.
-
just for your information. sam harris compared
@ezraklein and the rest of vox to the ku klux klan. and he did so with dave rubin. his koch funded buddy from the intellectual dark web who likes alex jones and supports donald trump. -
If those people are your scary enemies, you're kinda a wimp. "DAVE RUBIN IS COMING! DAVE RUBIN IS COMING!" -Paul Revere

nonsense. it is about honesty. not CNN are hacks. sam harris and dave rubin are. as i proved to you.
-
Sam Harris and Dave Rubin aren't journalists. They're infotainment, at best. I listen to Harris and Rubin and am aware of their obvious bias. I expect more from a news organization.
