Just because somebody calls themselves left-wing doesn't mean they are. Specially if they don't show self-criticism. This is the poison within our Latin American left wing movements.

Daniel Ortega’s is the govt that gave Salvadoran ex-president Mauricio Funes asylum after he stole millions from our people. This, too, is the Central American left.

But again, it isn’t even about this post/meta -political junk. It’s about the assault on dignity and human livelihoods by a repressive state apparatus operated by a henchman who hijacked Sandinismo for personal profiteering. #Nicaragua

If you think Ortega is a leftist, you guys haven’t been paying attention and, like many, only pay attention to #CentralAmerica in times of crisis. Ortega operates under the guise of Sandinismo and has done so, illegitimately, for some time.

I see no point in extrapolating a strawman narrative to critique leftism in its entirety. It’s too easy. I think ya’ll are misunderstanding the capital-state-society relation in #Nicaragua. Ortega is, simply put, a corrupt neoliberal who turned Venceremos into Venderemos.

Many Central-American leftist parties are authoritarian as hell and gaslight their critics. Women in LIBRE & in Honduras's anti-dictator alliance talked about this at length with some publishing articles about it online. Gaslighting constructive critics is common.

Ortega had hijacked what the Sandinistas once were ... he’s an oligarch ... and we need to support the folks resisting in a way that also fights U.S. interventionism. Gracias, váyanse a la verga.

this is the type of mistakes or false flag shit that makes fascists feel validated. We have in the left this pressure to be held at a higher moral standard than right wing people and Ortega’s government has long stopped serving its people.

My thing with the Nicaraguan protests is that even as a lefty myself I know when shit stinks. People deserve to be heard. The government should stop acting like my fascist honduras.

My cousin legit works for the govt of Nicaragua currently. He himself said they’re being forced to go to pro govt rallies and they’re fired the next day if they don’ show up. My mom got fired for not showing up to Pro Somoza rallies in the 70s, la historia siempre se repite
