I had a mixed South London & Surrey & North London upbringing - bit of Croydon with some Walton on Thames & a sprinkle of Islington. So it was a surprise on a visit to Australia to be told I sound like a film star. It turns out I sound like Hermione in Harry Potter.

The perfect Sunday afternoon. Went out (in the sunshine) for a walk/coffee, back to finish making and eat “Sunday dinner” and now watching Johnny English while MrSJW loads the dishwasher and makes me a cuppa.

STEP 7: and finally monitor, tick done items and review whether the plan continues to make sense. If it doesn’t, be an Agile Planner and refine the plan.

STEP 6: Allocate some regular time to work through the actions (maybe Monday afternoon can be your time?)

Show this thread
STEP 5: Stop for a moment to check whether this makes sense and whether you want to get help and outsource/delegate some of the activity. (I have a friend who specialises in research and I know will take this on if I need an extra pair of hands).

STEP 4: Write a list with deadlines. I often use the whiteboard in my home office but you could use an app (Trello is a commonly used planning tool/app that is ideal) or even just a spreadsheet.

STEP 3: Prioritise the categories/actions. usually highlight - for example pink for essential within the next few weeks, then blue for next priority & green for low.

STEP 2: See if there are any quick wins that require minimal work - get them done. Half a day can get a few a few simple actions done. Those ticks will lift you.

STEP 1: Group the activities into similar categories - a mid map is a great way to do this and also lets you identify the links and dependencies between actions.

Last week I went to a marketing workshop and came away with a 4 page action list. Do you find yourself overwhelmed by a long todo list? Here are my thoughts on turning your list into a workable action plan. You will need paper and pen - ideally some highlighter too. 🧵

I see NatWest is closing its #tonbridge branch in 2023. We need to get a permanent post office with full services back on the high street. As more bank branches close the post office becomes more vital, especially for the vulnerable.

Not heard of a bump sale before - wha5 a fab idea. The earlier you book your place the cheaper your price. And a marketing planning session is a great idea.

And to those who say #GDPR is gold plated I would ask what element of embedding it in your companies practices has been onerous and not helpful in protecting customer data. Or are you just looking forward to being able to market, or sell #customerdata, without permission?

GDPR is an international standard of protecting personal data. It helps businesses trade internationally - many indirectly, so when I was a consultant working for UK clients who trade internationally those clients would not have worked with me unless I was #GDPR compliant.
