Astonished health minister @JimBethell responds to my question that only *now* is our test & trace system going to add barcodes to tests sent out (so that they can be tracked). Surely this is a fundamental flaw from the start despite £22bn being spent on the system. Unbelievable

I'd have thought that a barcode would have been one of the most basic, yet essential, requirements of a track and trace system.

Per the weekly Test & Trace reporting - latest published today - T&T did not reach over 178,000 people who tested positive and were referred to them between 30/12/20 and 24/2/21 - And over 21,000 didn't provide contact details - that's over 200,000 in all - "1 in a 1000" my arse! pic.twitter.com/oPYJKQSALO

Of course there’s codes on tests. I didnt say “only *now* going to add them”. I said “There are lessons to be learned from both potential models, and we are communicating with those who provide tests to ensure that barcodes are put on all tests.” Quite different. Please correct.

I had a home covid test in September 2020, there was a barcode on the test.
