He's one of the most encouraging examples, but there seems to be a line even between people who started in their early 20s versus 30+. In particular it seems if you hit 1600-1800 by your early 20s the ceiling is much higher.

I don’t believe on any « ceiling » regarding the age you start chess. I started a year ago, (I’m 30), all my coaches told me countless stories about adult improvers in their 30-40 even 50s who achieve great results in competitive chess. 1/2
