I've seen a lot of complaints about the value of Commander 2019 already. I think a lot of people are forgetting just how lacking in value last years decks really were. From my perspective, the Sultai deck is a big step forward value-wise compared to last year.
Hoping for $40 staples in a $40 deck isn't realistic. Getting a bunch of playable $3 lands, a couple of good colorless cards (Thran Dynamo, Sol Ring) and hopefully a couple of $8-$10 cards is about as good as you can hope for in a cheap precon deck.
are people benchmarking against true-name nemesis / flusterstorm?
Also, those cards weren’t reprints. The last expensive reprint I can remember was ... Mirari’s Wake? Wurmcoil? Even then, they seem to top off on reprints at about $10-12
And the other years, the excessive value came from new cards mainly

For sure it's better... Iit will be difficult to get worth anyway. For now it just has been lazy, but wait and see the full set before complaining ^^
I always feel like the precons are for people getting into the format/archetypes anyway. Established morph players are probably better off buying singles from the set.
If we were talking about many other products, I would probably agree. But this deck, at least, is a solid buy to new and enfranchised players. It boosts your collection with dozens of usable cards that would cost at least the price you paid, with added value of the new cards.
