I like MTG conspiracy theories as much as the next guy, but this one is way too tin foil hatty even for me.

An interesting theory was they were unintentionally marked as the sleeves were defective and the deck was sleeved sorted.
-
This seems realistic at least. It would be pretty unlucky with how the markings ended up, but it's possible.

It's the perfect crime. Who would ever believe it? Which means Yuuya DID Mark his own sleeves knowing nobody would believe someone else did and therefore certain there is a conspiracy and believe someone marked his sleeves.

I'm not suggesting someone marked them but his timeline suggests multiple parties handled the deck and deemed it ok with the final inspection resulting in a DQ. I can understand the conclusion jump.
-
I'm not sure multiple parties deemed it okay. I read it more like a judge checked his deck, wasn't 100% sure, talked to another judge who also checked his deck, who always wasn't 100%, who got another judge and they finally came to a decision.

I prefer “snuck” over “sneaked”. Also, not surprised by the cheating debacle.

Apparently it has happened in yugi oh tournaments. Still seems ridiculous though.

The only thing i find wierd is that they gave his deck back twice and said it was fine. If there was suspicion of wrong doing they shouldnt have let him play 2 more rounds with it before acting on it.
-
These processes are complicated. Holding up the entire event for like an hour to interview him, check sleeves with multiple judges etc, isn't really a feasible option, logistically. When in doubt, judges will sometimes also use future rounds to watch a player more carefully.
