Women are always told to be smaller. Our weight, our height, our voice, our personality…smaller.
I’m 6ft tall though, so…
No. I won’t be small by default or by demand. I’ll be be big. And so should all women!! 🔥
If you don't believe in Cozy Horror please watch Over the Garden Wall with the lights out, a candle burning, and your heart open to ALL that horror has to offer. The Dark Lord will come and make your fucking nightmares come true all cozy like. ✨✨
My best book score ever was finding a first NEL paperback edition of THE LONG WALK by in the kid’s book bin for .25 at a Library Sale in my hometown.
I love when chapters have titles. Little teasers of what’s to come.

I love when people take a deep dive into this shit for the rest of us. Well done, Chris.
Writers, write what you want to write.
Readers, read what you want to read.
.
Readers, don’t tell writers what to fucking write because you don’t have to read it.
Writers don’t worry about what readers want to read because you don’t have to fucking write that.
Simple.
COVER REVEAL! You are the first to see the official cover of my debut non-fiction book about horror books! 101 HORROR BOOKS TO READ BEFORE YOU'RE MURDERED
Cover Artwork & Fully Illustrated by .
Foreword:
Any day Night of the Hunter comes up is a good day.
Telling people to stop buying books and just read the ones they have makes zero sense. I’m building a LIBRARY. I don’t know what I feel like reading. I need choices. Duh
My 15 year old son has started coloring his artwork now and I’m just like 🤯🤯🤯
From his comic, ILLUSTRATION OF ENCHANTMENT
What if I rented a huge, beautiful house on a private island and hosted a horror writing competition?
So excited and honored to be a part of this project! :)

My favorite feeling is pretending to be overwhelmed by how many unread books I have when the reality is I don’t actually give a fuck and I will just buy more.
Gotta post a selfie after a haircut right?! It’s kind of tradition
I was offered a book deal from Page Street Publishing, an imprint of to write a "101 Horror Books to Read Before You Die" book and I'm excited to announce I signed the contract and it's really real!

If these 5 underrated Stephen King books are some of your favorites too, we can be best friends.
As someone of faith who has once belonged to the evangelical church and has very strong opinions about how "Christians" weaponize or twist scripture to suit an agenda, #MidnightMass is *really* doing it for me right now only 2 episodes left
I'm not sure how the rumor got started that readers are looking for accuracy or moral purity in their fiction but speaking for myself and a fuck-load of other readers, I want authors to LIE to and SCANDALIZE me. Make shit up and make it dirty, rotten, bananas. Please & Thanks.
The average person reads like 10-12 books a year and only a few of those are new releases. So the fact that genre readers pound 20-100+ new genre titles every year is pretty fucking rad.
It's here! It arrived! HOLLY by is in my hand and I'm jumping into it right now. Happy King Book Day everyone!
My favorite underrated book by Stephen King is REVIVAL. I fucking love this story. I just learned that was adapting it for Netflix but it never came to be...why universe?? Read this article. I need this in my life:

Watched GERALD’S GAME this afternoon, loved it. Now I’m on to 1922. Both are on Netflix. Interesting how both stories explore the intimate dynamic of troubled marriages.
Hereditary is still one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. The unrelenting assault on my emotions gave me a panic attack. My anxiety and worry for the son/brother and the overwhelming grief Toni Collette's character was exhibiting made me physically sick. That's HORROR
This official announcement reminds me that I own my own business w/ my best friend selling horror books and that we just edited our first anthology.

I suddenly just want to tell everyone out there writing their little hearts out— trying to get that story living in your soul on paper—that you can do it. It’s important. Don’t give up! Readers haven’t heard anything like it because it’s yours and you matter.
Some girls don’t want flowers, candy, or jewelry on Valentine’s Day. They want modern horror fiction and the time to read it.

Sometimes you have to buy a random large print edition because the cover fucking slaps.

Worst Of lists are like chumming shark infested waters; bait for more negativity, snark, and ankle biting—the internet definitely needs more of that, yeah?
I enable people in their horror book buying addiction. Don’t follow me.
When someone is sharing things they LOVE ask yourself why you want to tell them you hate it. Just stop and really have a think on it. Why do I want to tell this person I hate what they love?
And then don't.
Books don't have an expiration date. You're never too late to enjoy a well-loved author for the first time. There's no party you missed out on, you're not a bandwagon fan.
"A wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."
BOYS IN THE VALLEY by is so fucking scary, I had to stop reading it last night and finish it this morning. This is a new favorite coming-of-age horror story-shelved between IT by Stephen King, Golding’s LORD OF THE FLIES and Blatty’s THE EXORCIST. All the stars

Salem's Lot. Danny Glick at Mark Petrie's bedroom window is my horror-fiction-lover origin story. That scene made me who I am.

REVIVAL by is everything I love about his storytelling. Complex, vivid characters engaging with one another; the reader disappears into the lives of fictional people so intimately, reality is forgotten for hours and hours as you wander around in their shoes.
I was invited to give an interview to for a special series they're doing on Stephen King! I'm going on Zoom in an hour with the host, David McCracken-keep an eye out for The Stephen Kingdom coming soon 👀
I have an exciting announcement! I am officially a member of the Association as of today! My membership has been approved and I'm thrilled to be a part of this organization dedicated to promoting dark fiction and those who write it. #promotehorror

An offline writer friend said to me,
“Horror is an aesthetic. It’s not a subject. And, as an idea, it predates genre. It predates fiction. It probably predates narrative.
Water isn’t a drink. It’s water. Soda is a drink. Horror is water.”
I am no longer reading, reviewing, supporting, or promoting books from Silver Shamrock Publishing. Their lack of discernment is polarizing and harmful to this community. They put authors, readers, and reviewers at risk-especially those in marginalized communities.
Friends,
My dad is now addressing me as Mother Horror.
Can authors just publish more 50-100 page, dark, messed up, horrific, strange, yummy little stories on Kindle Unlimited with cool covers, please? Thanks!

Guys, I’m totally ready for 2022.

Good morning. Let's go where this train takes us.
I can tell when people are transactional networking. There will be a sliding scale of value placed on the relationship working in tandem with a schedule of promotion. In a community, especially a small one, I urge folks to make authentic, meaningful connections.
I have to say this.
Last night, my hero, like one of the most influential people in my life, took time out of his day to ask me a question and in the time it took for me to collect myself, respond just how I wanted to & hit reply, 4 guys answered for me. I was crushed.

Problem: Broken bookshelves from too many books.

Solution: Stop acquiring books.

Response: When I’m dead.
The pandemic has revealed to me how hard I lean into horror fiction to self soothe. March 2020, I read the most books ever in 1 month. I read HELL HOUSE in 1 day. January 6th, another whole book. Fucked up things happening to fictional people I care about? The perfect distraction
My unread books watching me add more books to my Christmas list.
Maybe the way to make people love you more is to write that kick ass horror novel you keep thinking about.
