On this Holocaust memorial day, it's worth taking a look at this sad and incredibly powerful twitter project.

Great to see policies in yday's manifesto: ✅Green procurement criteria ✅Separate benefits admin from employment support ✅More planning powers for communities ✅Widen Carer's Allowance eligibility ✅Higher minimum wage for zero-hours workers

On an episode of just after party conferences, David Runciman coined the 'Polly Toynbee test' of whether Labour has moved too far left. Will Polly Toynbee call the manifesto a cornucopia of delights, as she did in 2017? Well... She just has...

I disagree! Precisely because Labour has few Leavers left, the BXP is more likely to take votes from Con than Lab. Could swing it in CON/LAB marginals. Not saying Boris should accept the pact - would create issues, like you say. But Farage's decision to play hardball = crucial.

Crucial moment: Brexit Party will contest every seat in England, except where local MPs renounce Boris's deal. But it seems unlikely that Tory MPs will take up Farage's offer, as they are on record in support of the deal. Labour's narrow path to victory just got slightly wider.

Is Workington Man c. 2019 for the Conservatives what Basildon Man was for Labour c. 2001? All very reminiscent of this classic - and a bit of a cautionary tale. Would Workington Man have existed without Labour pivot to Basildon Man?

Great piece of work from on councils prioritising commercial interests over public accountability. Ties in well with 's recent work on involving people in planning. Councils aren't doing themselves any favours by keeping people out

Boris' big speech is all about strength and optimism. It's a reminder that for many Leave voters, Brexit is about hope and confidence, not nostalgia (as Remainers tend to think). See also this nugget from an project and I did in 2018

So is it all bad? No. We've got a million ideas and recommendations. Plus, initiatives like Boston Builds Credit show that place-based efforts can shift the needle on this & help break cycles of disadvantage. We'll be trying to do just that in Sheffield - more on which soon (5/5)

The report identifies 29 'credit deserts' where high credit need meets poor credit scores. People there struggle to get good credit, surrounded by unaffordable options. Many 'deserts' are post-industrial towns, where insecure work & volatile earnings raise credit demand (4/5)
