Young girls in bad situations can't catch a break and it's a cycle of victimization. I went from a bad home to bad foster homes to a bad marriage and a lot of exploitation in between. The girls nobody cares about take years to heal and find safety if they make it out at all.

Something that we can’t lose sight of: the Violence Against Women Act expired almost two weeks ago when the government shutdown began. It’s shameful to withhold this critical support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Congress must re-authorize it immediately.

The lesson across the world is clear: fix the corruption, or you get anti-corruption populists (like Trump, Bolsonaro (Brazil), Orbán (Hungary), Kaczyński (Poland)). Incentive enough?

If you are still stepping in the name of love after this documentary, go on and step your way right to hell. We knew R. Kelly was a predator but now it has been explicitly laid out. If you associate with him you are no better than him

I don’t think many men understand that they’ve been taught to see sex as coercion rather than consent. That’s why I see , so many problematic men failing to understand why R Kelly is trash.

Make sure to teach your kids, especially your daughters, the difference between being nice and being kind. Kindness is a healthy form of empathy. Grooming girls to be “nice” is intended to make them passive, overly accommodating and quiet.

tonight featured one of her most important stories, ever. Captioned "Puppet Puppet," you MUST watch it (B bloc) if you didn't see it live. I consider myself a pretty close student of U.S. foreign policy, but knew NOTHING about the material she presented.
