A note for fellow -ers Using phrases like... "It's basic chemistry" "You learn that stuff in high school" "You should know this" ...Is so exclusionary Never assume knowledge, of your audience or of fellow presenters!! Everyone has a different background & experience

Very important paper. I highly encourage everyone to read it. AI is the future. It's our responsibility to shape this future for the better.

The world has never been simple. Nostalgia for simpler times is actually nostalgia for ignorance.

I realise that this article is a bit older, but everyone should know this. Women belong in computer science and any other scientific field for that matter.

I overheard PhD folk subtly mocking undergraduate students, please don't do this. Don't forget that we all started somewhere. Undergraduates are the future, so treat them like it. Bring them into the conversation, help them feel respected & valued as people & as researchers.

Let’s try this. Select the highest degree any of your close family members attained before you. Comment below on, how this had an (if any) impact on you.

If your best (not bragging, this is true) student is not doing as well as they should be, maybe stop telling them about how disappointed you are in them and start asking if they are doing ok! You're supposed to be experts on the brain! 2/2

I am absolutely baffled by the fact that far too many Neuroscience professors choose to ignore that mental health is real and that their students are not robots. A professor once told me that she was disappointed in and surprised by my exam performance. 1/2

Look, I haven't been doing all this school and working so hard to earn this PhD so that can end the world before anyone calls me Doctor. Nope.

1/ Dear friends (and P.I.s), in these volatile times, do spare a thought for students of Iranian origin, especially those studying in the US. The past decade was devastating for most of us who had close ties to Iran, no matter what political background we came from.
