Our research team from (me, , and ) just finished expository papers on Nil & Sol geometry. I'll post the Arxiv links soon, but first will take you on a tour of the illustrations. Here's a view of the earth rotating in Nil geometry.

So you like knots? And you like matrices? Then you must be into infinite arrays of knots... AKA knitting. Shout out to Elisabetta Matsumoto and her group doing very cool stuff at Georgia Tech.

Robert MacKay's Chaos Machine. Its configuration space is a genus three surface. The dynamics of the machine are equivalent to geodesic flow on the surface, which is Anosov, hence chaotic.

At this semester, Matthias Goerner made an in-space viewer for hyperbolic 3-manifolds in the geometry/topology software SnapPy starting from our cohomology fractals code. We're still working on it, but here's a path through Dehn surgery space for the fig 8 knot complement.

I’m still amazed that at the age of 45 (thanks to ) I can have found a hobby that I might be fairly competent at, that brings me so much happiness. 😁

Knitting is coding and yarn is a programmable material — Sabetta Matsumoto is bringing ideas from material science, knot theory, and other areas of topology to study knitting and to create, as she calls it, a knit theory.

tours on a surface - gathering empirical evidence about trajectories of woven lines. Kagome weaving pattern orientation chosen to avoid meridians and equator. Divergent trajectories mainly traverse regions of negative curvature. How many times do they cross themselves?
